Hey there thanks so much for stopping by!! I have a layout that I put together using none other then the amazing Paige Evans collection Take Me Away! I started using my Silhouette Cameo and some free cut files from the Hip Kit Club website. I choose some heart shapes and chose the papers that I wanted to use and went to town cutting. After all of that was done I knew that I wanted to add some mixed media to the background so I primed by paper with some clear gesso and once that dried used my Gelatos and the plastic smooshing technique to create that wonderful watercolor look. Inspiration struck once that was done and I grabbed some glossy embossing paste by Dreamweaver that I had only used once in the 2 years I’ve had it lol, and a Heidi Swapp plus sign stencil and added some texture in three different places on the page, just so that it would peek out from behind those lovely hearts. I just love how it dries opaque and glossy. It adds a really nice touch and different texture to everything! I also took some time and added a bit of machine stitching with pink thread through a few of the hearts. I always love to take open opportunity to add different textures when I can. I just think it adds so much interest! After all of that was said and done it was pretty much just the embellishing and journaling that needed to be done! I printed a few strips of journaling out on vellum from my computer using a typewriter font and stuck it down! My title was composed of the lovely mirror stickers that come in this collection and those to die for color blocked Thickers that also coordinate! The small circle font was a little gem that I had found at the Target dollar spot last year. I really hope that you enjoyed this layout and have a great day!

I know that some of you are part of some of the Facebook groups that I am in as well and may have heard the news that my beloved Pomeranian Swiper had passed away on December 26th. It was something that happened very suddenly and was devastating to our whole family. Swiper was still just a puppy but was very much a big part of our family. He was the perfect addition and just the sweetest thing who loved us all, but seemed to have a really special bond with me. He just loved to follow me around everywhere that I went which included my craft room. He had everything he needed in there including his bed, toys, food, and of course his momma. I only bring this up because since his passing I have had a little bit of a hard time getting back in the room. My fiancee was sweet enough to go and clean out Swiper’s things as I wasn’t even stepping foot in the room. but I still have a hard time in there without him running around and gnawing on the big tub under my desk. Funny how you can miss the little things that once pushed your buttons, right?! All in all I will get back in the saddle, I just need a little bit of time. And Swiper I know that all dogs go to heaven and I know you are no exception to that, I just wish we would have had more time. You are and will always be truly missed by us all! I love you Swipe-Dogg!!!
Hello!! I have just been chugging along with my December Daily this month and I felt like I needed to create something that was not holiday related for a change lol. I think that may be the key for me personally to completing the DD and not getting bored so when the feeling came over me I rolled with it! I picked out a recent photo of some Macron cookies that my girls had the other day and decided to pull out some We r Memory Keepers, and some American Crafts from my stash for this page. I also knew that since it has been awhile since I created a 1212 page, that I would want to get a little messy! I started with a 12×12 piece of white cardstock and primed it with a coat of clear gesso. I then started to work on my paper layers behind my photo so that I knew where I would want my background to be. I am using the beautiful Love Notes collection be We R for that. I also added some strips from that paper pad to the bottom to add a bit of weight down there! I think the colors looked amazing with those cookies! Then things got messy!!! Yay!! Sometimes I need that to feel whole again, right?!! I took some Distress Inks in Shabby Shutters, Spun Sugar, and Worn Lipstick and did a combo of the smoothing technique and just watercoloring with them. I did some splatters with HS Color Shine in Seafood and some of the TH Distress Spray Stain in Tarnished Bronze, my new fav gold!
I still felt like I needed some more texture so I grabbed something new to MY stash and although it says it came out in 2013 I never knew it existed! Let me explain…I was shopping around my local Tuesday Morning one day and came across a 6×12 booklet of stencils by American Crafts. Since I can’t really resist a stencil, I picked it up and looked and found it was a whole booklet of stencils created my Maggie Holmes (yes that’s right, the scrap queen!) and it was all icons from her first three lines. SCORE!! Obviously I couldn’t wait to use it lol. I pushed some Worn Lipstick through one of the floral stencils and I just loved how that came out. After that I grabbed some roller phrase/date stamps and just went to town. I really love the effect that gives and I know I have used it before! Hard to teach me new tricks I guess lol. I even snuck in a little sewing here and there….Just needed texture and more texture!!
All that was left after that was the embellishing. I used lots of my hoarded 5th&Frolic by Dear Lizzy since it had lots of similar colors and that bow…YUMMY>>>that’s from Polka Dot Party and sadly I only have 1 more left, but it was worth it because I love how it looks on this page! For my title I used some Thicker words and even though Merci means thank you, I figured french cookie> french word…works for me!! I added in some journaling to the bottom right and that was it! I hope that you enjoyed the page and that you are enjoying the holiday season, whatever you find yourself doing! I will leave a link to the video below if you’d like to check that out as well!!
Well Happy Humpday lol! Yes it’s Wednesday and the week is half over with! YAY! I just wanted to put a quick post check in and let you know what my crafty (and maybe not so crafty) things have been looking like this week! I WAS keeping up pretty well with my December Daily album until about Saturday hehehe! I’m not too far behind…yet…but I have remembered to take pictures and keep some real life ephemera so that’s good. Plus I have the layout of where everything will go and have my photos printed through Monday, so really I’ve been doing the foundation for it I just have to find the time to really sit down and put it together! So I guess I’m not doing to bad right?! Other then that I have just had some little setbacks in life that have been affecting my week a tad. I don’t think that I have ever shared this before but I have recently, with in the past few months been diagnosed with High Blood Pressure…like really high….so I have really been working to get that down to where it needs to be, but that is a lot easier said than done and I should also mention that I am in fact adopted, so to know any of my family history is pretty much impossible…sometimes I feel like I am fighting against something that may be genetic. I just know it’s frustrating and when my pressure gets to certain point I have these horrible headaches and really don’t feel like doing much of anything! BUT, on a much happier note Christmas has seem to come early to my household!! Me and Dre (the love of my life <3) took our two daughters out to see a Christmas event that takes place here in Minneapolis every year, and before we went in he surprised me with a new DSLR camera! OMGoodness I can’t even tell you how excited and happy I was to receive that! I had been hoping for one for about a year now and didn’t even realize that he knew that because I don’t think that I had ever mentioned anything to him about one! What a great guy and I do have to admit he continues to amaze me every single day even after 14 years of being together! I have been doing lots of research on how to use it because I have only ever used a point and click and a camera phone up until now so we will see. If you have any great tips or know of any nice websites or classes on how to use one for beginners I would love to hear about them! Well I hope that where ever you are, December is being kind to you and that you are able to craft and enjoy the magic of the season! I will be back soon with some new projects (and hopefully some awesome photos of them HA!) Take Care!
Good morning! I’m here today continuing on with my GDT spot over at Clique Kits but I decided to switch it up a little bit and create a 12×12 page instead of my DD. I just couldn’t resist playing with these pretty papers and embellishments in a larger scale. I started to with two of the pattered papers from the kit, one of them from PinkFresh Studios (the blue and white diagonal) and one from October Afternoon, and also a white piece of cardstock. I had this idea that I wanted to mat several different times alternating all of the papers. The diagonal design was an after thought, but I really loved how it looked so I kept it and it really ended up being a big part of the page design. After I had all of my papers matted and positioned how I liked them I went ahead and stitched in red around the 12×12 border and then stitched in white around the diagonal piece.
After all of that was said and done it was not o the good part which is embellishing. this kit is so chocked full of so many different embellishments form the PinkFresh line as well as other exclusive embellishments its crazy!!! And there are so many different textures, rubber charms, acrylic pieces, puffy stickers! You can really create some visually stunning looks with them!
Another texture that I played around with was the POW glitter paper that came included in the kit. I used it to mat the photo and I just how it adds a little bit of sparkle and shine around my black and white photo. I also used a bit of red paper from one of the pieces of pattered paper from PinkFresh Studios to draw attention to that cluster. I really wanted red to be more of an accent color on this page to really draw your eye to interesting areas. I used lots of the die cuts and popped some of them up to create different levels! Oh yeah, I almost forgot! I even included some of the packaging that the kit came in. That lovely transparency behind the the layers of the photo is actually two layers of a glassine bag that I repurposed onto my page!
Now I have to take a second to talk about the hashtag flairs that come in the kit. You get six of them and they all have the cutest phrases on them. I love how with instagram and social media being such a big part of most of our lives, that we can really stay on trend with our scrapbooking and years down the road it will reflect the current culture! You can see I also used little bits to create that confetti look! Lots of puffy stickers, acrylic pieces, and sequins! I also added in some splatters in two colors of silver at the end which really seemed to add to that!
The top corner of the diamond was looking a little bare so I decided to house my journaling there. I took two of the labels that came in the die cut pack and layered them right up to the edge of the shape. I used my Slick Writer to do my actual journaling as the die cuts do have a bit of a glossy finish to them! Then I grabbed possibly my favorite embellishment, that lovely outline font acrylic piece that says MAGIC. It worked out so perfectly because it added something special up there without taking away from anything else on the layout! Well that’s about it for this one! I hope that you liked it and if you are interested in seeing the process video I will leave the link below! I will also link Clique Kits and I hope the you run over and check this kit out! It is really perfect for documenting all of your holiday and winter memories!
Happy holidays! I feel like they are getting into full swing around here and I couldn’t be happier. Last year we had planned a huge two week family vacation starting with us flying out Christmas morning so it was so busy and it’s nice to slow down this year and really be able to enjoy the season and all of the fun things that it has to offer here in Minnesota. Plus in the up side I get a chance to really do a December Daily this year! I had great intentions of attempting one last year and even made my cover and a few foundation pages but I was really doomed before I began because with all of the other preparations that we had I never even did one page!! Sad I know but I did manage to get lots of our holiday photos into a smash book while we were traveling and that was a great alternative but this year I am diving in head first into my DD! I am using the same album that I used last year (I just switched out my 2o14 to a 2015 since I had the same Thickers lol don’t tell anyone lol)! SO far I have been able to keep up pretty good! I should also mention that I am guest designing over at Clique Kits this month and am using their holiday kit called “Clique into December” and I am loving it! I haven’t really stepped outside of it much yet and I find that there are so many amazing embellishments and papers that I could possible squeeze out a few pages along with my DD! If you wanna check them out I highly recommend it and will leave the link below! I do have process videos up for all of the pages that I have completed up on my YouTube channel and will also leave the links to those as well! I do hope that whatever you and your loved ones are doing this season, that you get a chance to enjoy it and maybe even document it! Thank so much and Happy Holidays!
Before December (Nov 29-30)
Day One and Day Two
Welcome! I hope that you are having a great day! December has started and that means so is my December Daily project! I am going in with a strong will to do it so we will see if I can keep that mentality when the season really gets into full swing HA! I do hope so though because I just think it will be so much fun to look at this album in the future! I’ m sorry that I don’t have any pictures of it today as I was in a bit of a hurry but I will leave a link below to the process video that I did showing step by step how I created my first entries! Hope you enjoy and have a great day!
